Radio Abbey is housed in a wonderful place called The Kenilworth Centre. Apart from a skeleton staff, most of the people involved with The Kenilworth Centre are volunteers. It's a charity that provides a wide variety of help for the residents of our town. It's the youth club, a toddler group, warm hubs for people who need a bit of heat, social groups, computer assistance for the elderly and many other little things that go towards helping the community. The Centre is funded through grants, sponsorship, donations and room hire, which is also a vital resource for the community. Without this room hire we will lose dance classes, drama schools, singing groups, craft classes, health and wellbeing classes such as yoga and pilates as well as a number of one off events.

The Centre is responsible for the upkeep of the building, which is in constant need of maintenance, from general building repairs to upgrading essential items such as the platform lift which enables access to the second floor. These general maintenance costs plus the increase in energy bills means it costs around £10K per month to keep the doors open at tKC and for them to continue supporting the community.

The ‘Little things’ auction is our way of trying to help. By means of a lot of cheeky groveling we hope to have a series of little, unique things such as 5 minute doodles (drawings or words) created, and signed by well known, and soon to be well known people to auction off to the public.

This lovely poem is from Julia Rawlinson. A children’s author, Julia has donated one of her lovely poems ‘Does a Caterpillar Dream’ with an illustration from her book ‘Fletcher and the Caterpillar by artist Tiphanie Beeke.

Julia’s books include the popular ‘Fletcher and the Seasons’ series about an inquisitive fox, his friends, and their discoveries about the world around them. Several of which have been read on Cbeebies Bedtime Stories.

This CD has been donated by Roddy Byers and has been signed by him in the centre part of the CD design.

He wrote the Specials favourites "Concrete Jungle", "Rat Race" and "Hey, Little Rich Girl", later covered by Amy Winehouse.
